Coventry is playing a major role in London 2012 through hosting Olympic Football, an evening celebration of the Olympic Torch Relay and many other sporting and cultural events.
We are looking for over 300 volunteers to act as Coventry Ambassadors during the 2012 Games who will be responsible for welcoming the world to Coventry. Ambassadors will be the first port of call for anyone needing information and assistance about London 2012 events occurring in the city.

The scheme will act as a volunteering legacy for Coventry through the creation of a team of enthusiastic, well trained and knowledgeable volunteers who are available to attend and support future events. The development of high quality volunteers will be crucial in supporting future national and international events in the city, (such as the 2015 Rugby World Cup), and also the scheme will demonstrate a developed volunteer infrastructure which will bode well in attracting future major events to Coventry.
The Coventry Ambassadors scheme is being designed to not only equip the volunteers with the training and skills relevant to the events of London 2012 and major events in Coventry, but also to develop and increase the employability of the individuals who are part of the programme.
It is paramount that the Coventry Ambassador programme has the scope to deliver a lasting legacy for Coventry and the surrounding area beyond Games time. In this instance, this legacy will be to design, create, implement and document a successful volunteering scheme for Coventry, which can be used as a framework time and again for major sporting and cultural events in the sub-region as a whole.
