Coventry Ambassadors volunteers' training events - coming soon

The London 2012 Olympic Football competition is coming to Coventry and bringing with it thousands of visitors during the Games in July and August 2012.

Coventry Ambassadors - selection event

More than 300 applicants have already attended a series of selection events to recruit volunteers, which will include team leaders, linguists and general ambassadors who will be based at key city centre locations and in the last mile leading up to the City of Coventry Stadium during Games time in July and August 2012.

 

Training for Coventry Ambassadors

 

Once the recruitment stage is complete the volunteers will be taking part in a series of training events where the new recruits will get to know more information about their roles and repsonsibilities. More information coming soon.

 

Coventry Ambassador Role:

Coventry Ambassadors will have three main duties.

      Supporting key London 2012 events:

  • Olympic Football fixtures 25 July – 9 August
  • Olympic Torch Relay evening celebration event on the 1 July 2012
  • Live Site Big Screen events

      Hosting visitors:

  • Signposting to key city centre attractions
  • Welcome at key transport interchanges
  • Information and assistance / enquires
  • Guidance on route to Olympic venue

      Acting as an Ambassador for the city:

  • Friendly, helpful, informative and polite
  • Create the right impression of Coventry
  • Be welcoming, be positive and be proud!

 

Coventry Ambassador types:

There are three types of Coventry Ambassador.

Coventry Ambassador:

Act as friendly and efficient host to spectators and other visitors to Coventry during the Olympic Games offering assistance to all.

Coventry Ambassador Team Leader:

Responsible for leading a small group of Ambassadors during London 2012 events in Coventry ensuring that all tasks are undertaken appropriately and safely.

Coventry Ambassador Linguist:

Offer clear and accurate information for non-English speaking visitors during Games time ensuring that people arrive at their destination on time and navigate easily around Coventry.
