About us

The Coventry & Warwickshire Partnership for the 2012 Games, (CW2012) is a unique combination of private, public and voluntary organisations working together to maximise the opportunities around the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Partnership involves the key organisations across the sub-region and has been established to ensure that Coventry & Warwickshire derives real benefits before, during and after the Games, by providing leadership and identifying opportunities to contribute to making the 2012 Games a real success.

Our focus is built on maximising the opportunities around the key areas of Sport, Culture, Business, Tourism, Education and Pre-Games Training Camps. Hosted by the Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire Partnership (CSWP) the 2012 Partnership is funded by:

  • Coventry City Council
  • Warwickshire County Council
  • NHS Coventry
  • University of Warwick
  • Coventry University
  • CV One
  • Rugby Borough Council

The Ricoh Arena, Coventry Sports Foundation, WM Police, C&W Chamber of Commerce and CSW Sport also support the partnership's objectives. Our region has already benefited from London hosting the 2012 Games, however, there are many opportunities to be gained for our region which are detailed in the Get Involved section of this website including:

  • A host City for 2012 - Coventry will host Olympic Football matches in 2012 having been selected as the Midlands venue for the competition
  • Business contracts - the Olympic Delivery Authority will be letting 75,000 contracts
  • Volunteering - 70,000 volunteers are needed to help make the games a success
  • Culture – playing our part in the four year Cultural Olympiad 2008-2012
  • Tourism - visitor economy opportunities for the region
  • Celebration - a visit from the 2012 Torch Relay and hosting a 2012 ‘Live Site’
  • Hosting - training and holding camps for national Olympic or Paralympic committees
  • Profile and Image - showcase ourselves to the world, and attract inward investment
  • Encouraging - participation in sport, physical activity and culture
  • Inspiring – the young people of Coventry and Warwickshire to be the best they can be and to have their own Olympic moment

All our work across our three levels of 2012 engagement are unified by the concept of a Journey to 2012 and inspiring everyone to be the best they can be.

We invite you to submit your 2012 Journey and be inspired by the Journeys of people, clubs, businesses, schools and organisations across Coventry and Warwickshire to establish how our region was part of and joined in with this once in a lifetime opportunity.
