The Olympic Football tournament is the second largest football event after the World Cup. London 2012 featured 58 games over 18 days, with over 500 athletes competing from 28 nations.
Due to the intense schedule, the Football competition began two days before the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony with the first group matches. At London 2012, the men’s competition is an under-23s event, although each country is allowed to include three older players in their team. There are no age restrictions for the women’s competition.

16 Men's and 12 Women's teams qualified for the London 2012 Olympic Football Tournament. The Official Draw took place LIVE on BBC 2 on Tuesday 24 April, from Wembley Stadium. The teams in the draw were:
